How We Review

Ideas come from three places: things we already bought for ourselves, reader suggestions sent to our inbox, and gaps we notice in a category we cover. A brand cannot buy its way onto this list.

Nothing is reviewed on unboxing day. We use a product for at least a few weeks — longer for bedding, bags and anything that has to survive washing — so we can report on how it wears rather than how it arrives.

Everyday usefulness first, then build quality, then how it looks in a real room. We also weigh value: a favourite has to feel worth its price, and most of ours are quietly affordable rather than expensive.

Each write-up includes Things to Know and Who It's Best For. If a product only suits certain people, budgets or spaces, we say so plainly. If it disappointed us, we simply do not publish it — we do not pad the site with negative filler.

We buy the majority of what we cover ourselves. When a brand sends something, it earns an article only if it would have made the cut anyway, and it never gets approval over the wording. Commission rates play no part in what we recommend or how highly we rate it — see our affiliate disclosure.

We revisit published finds periodically. If a formula changes, quality slips, or a product is discontinued, we update the article or remove the recommendation and note the change.
